The thousand-year-old temple, with its majestic and divine power, grants every prayer. Legends from successive generations abound, and to this day, they passed down by word of mouth among the people. Attaining the Dao through corpse-liberation, the immortal's traces still remain. During the Song Dynasty, aist named Li Renyu cultivated on Mount Shimo for decades, chanting scriptures day and night, gathering herbs and refining elixirs, accumulating merit and practicing diligently. Legend has it one day, a strange fragrance suddenly wafted through the mountains, and celestial music faintly echoed. In broad daylight, Li Renyu ascended to heaven in front of Guanyin Rock achieving immortality through corpse-liberation. Guanyin Rock and the medicine-grinding mortar in the mountains still exist to this day. When later generations climb the mountain to spot, they always feel a gentle breeze blowing, as if enveloped in a mystical immortal aura.

The ancient osmanthus tree emitted a wondrous fragrance that could be smelled for several miles. Li Ren personally planted an ancient osmanthus tree, whose branches trunk twisted in the air, as vigorous and powerful as a dragon. Every autumn, when the osmanthus flowers bloomed in full, the fragrance wafted for ten miles, by people far and wide. Local chronicles recorded the "extraordinary phenomenon of its fragrance being smelled for several miles," and its mystical nature is still praised by the villagers to this day Unfortunately, the ancient osmanthus tree perished in the middle of the last century, but its legend has been passed down from generation to generation, adding a touch of immortal charm and to Mount Shimo.
